Haarlem Jamborette 2023

Our Scouts and Explorers had a great time at Haarlem in 2019 together with Explorers from Norway and Brussels Girl Guides. British Scouting Overseas and 1st Waterloo were also there. Here are just a few of the pictures from 2019.

We’re already booked for the next edition in 2023! Will you be joining us! Put 5 August 2023 – 16 August 2023 in your calendar, because those are the 12 days when the 14th edition of Haarlem Jamborette will take place!

If you’re wondering how good it is, one of your leaders has been attending every 4 years since 2003, and the troop had already been at least twice then! See if you can recognise 2 current leaders in this picture!

Light up the Forest 2018

This year we wanted to make our Bonfire  event at De Kluis bigger and really light up the forest and also raise some money for the 10 scouts and guides from the local British groups who are attending World Scout Jamboree 2019. Thank you to all who helped or  attended we made approx €750 towards their camp fees.

We had  a lantern walk with homemade lanterns, a campfire, a BBQ & great cakes and fruit kebabs for dessert, lazertag, a reflective trail and glowing frisbee games

Many of the young people made lanterns and light displays in advance, many using recycled materials. A lot of work had gone into them. The Beavers had made lovely bottle bugs. Cubs had decorated jars and made square lanterns. Guides had decorated drinks cartons & jars. Phoenix Scout troops LED lit models deserve a special mention and won the Gold award.  Here are a few pictures- although they really don’t do the lanterns justice!

International Camporee 2018

This weekend was the second International Camporee at De Kluis. scouts and explorers from 1st Brussels camped together with other international scout groups from the Brussels region. We had great weather and a very successful programme. The Czech and Slovak scouts ran the campfire and fire poi display. Here are a few pictures, and there are more in our gallery.

World Scout Jamboree 2019 USA

We are delighted that a number of young people from the group have been selected to attend the WSJ in the US in 2019.  Our Explorer leader Jon Copner is the BSO contingent leader.

In total 8 local young people from 1st Brussels, Central Brussels and Guiding have been selected. Over the next 18 months they will be working together to fundraise for the costs of the camp. Their fees will also help support other young people from countries who could otherwise never afford to attend such an event.

Their first fund raising event was the cake stall at our Grand Prix and St Pauls Church.

Their delicious cakes raised a total of  €382

A big thankyou to all who bought cakes, and well done to the bakers!
