Lighting up the Forest 2018

17th November 2018

This year we want to make our Bonfire  event at De Kluis bigger and really light up the forest and also raise some money for the 10 scouts and guides from the local British groups who are attending World Scout Jamboree 2019.

This event is open by invitation only to Scouts & Guide groups and their families.

Please join in and make  some lanterns

The overall theme is fairy tales and legends, which gives a lot of scope for your creativity.

  • Let us know if you are choosing a particular story so we can avoid clashes.
  • The rules are simple – make lights and lanterns- from recycled or upcycled materials (as far as possible); provide light by way on glow sticks, battery operated LED, battery Lamps or torches. No naked flames permitted in these displays. (There is no mains electricity available for displays)
  • Arrive on the day (17th November 2018 ) any time after 15.00 to set your lanterns/displays  up at a place directed by the organisers. These will be outdoors in the woods, so please be prepared for the November weather.
  • Make sure they are well secured and not hazardous to passers-by  (eg if you pioneer Rapunzel’s tower, it won’t fall over if the wind blows)
  • At the end of the day, take your equipment away for re-use at home or at your group – or  save them for the next event.

For the moment can you let us know as soon as possible if you plan to come and to make a display for the event? We’ll contact you later with more details  for visitors and how to book food etc
