Squirrels

Squirrels - 4 to 6 years

We’re starting a new provision for four and five year olds called Squirrels, to help young people gain skills for life at a time when it matters most and where it's most needed.

Our Squirrel Drey opened In April 2022, we are gradually growing and learning what works with our Squirrels, many of whom are bilingual.

It is very important that Squirrels understand sufficient English, as otherwise they really don't enjoy the stories, games and other activities.

We have a lot of young people waiting for a space... we accepted some more young people In September and also 4 new adults, but we now need time for everyone to get to know each other and learn, so we don't overwhelm our team.  Our next intake is normally January 2023.  We therefore can't guarantee a space at this time, although we normally try to make an offer within 1 year of joining the list. It is worth registering your interest in joining, as not everyone on our list takes up a space when offered.

We are not looking for extra adult help for Squirrels right now, but if interested do let us know,  maybe we can open a second drey (at a different time) at some point.

If your child is approaching 6 years old, time on the list helps towards joining Beavers too.

On Saturday Squirrels heard the story of the 3 little pigs.. Naturally we wanted to Be Prepared for any big bad wolves who might try to come along and try to blow down our house. So  they had a fun time building very strong houses from Duplo. The  'wolves' huffed and they puffed, but they couldn't blow the houses down...

Welcome to our new website.

We’ll be using the website to promote ourselves, recruit members and leaders, advertise events, keep you informed of our news and display our photo albums. Keep visiting the website to stay up to date.

The site isn't finished yet... over the summer we'll be adding more material, so by the time we restart in September it should be ready to go!

We hope you like it..

Could you be our intrepid reporter for your section? Keeping your eyes on what's happening, taking a few pictures and letting people see what we are doing?

Reporters can be young people, parents or  leaders. Or you could get together with your scouting friends and decide what you want to say.  Please let us know if you could help by sending us some news once a month.
